A Little Juju Docuseries Launch

Bring an award-winning living archive of Black spirituality into a travel-and-spirituality video series for new audiences.

Description

The campaign for $241,000 will advance the next phase of Juju Bae’s established, award-winning platform by translating its living archive—active since 2018—into a new video docuseries at the intersection of travel and spirituality. The opportunity is timely: it builds on proven momentum and expands a body of work designed to broaden public understanding of spiritual traditions, especially those rooted in the Black diaspora, through storytelling, research, and conversation.

The docuseries will reveal diverse faith traditions across America and around the world, extending “A Little Juju Podcast” beyond audio into a visual format that can reach new audiences. Guided by the central question of what is lost when God’s image is ignored in the diversity of human religiosity, the series will blend personal narrative, expert conversation, folklore, and cultural history to deepen cultural memory and connection to ancestral wisdom.

Support will underwrite the docuseries’ development work—research, story development, and production planning—tracked through clear milestones and documented outputs. Donors will make possible a public-facing exploration of religion, culture, and spiritual practice that aligns with Blue Ridge Collaborative’s mission to foster inclusivity and empathy through arts, culture, and education.

Why This Moment Matters

This campaign matters now because it advances the next phase of Juju Bae’s established, award-winning platform into new formats that can broaden public understanding of spiritual traditions—especially those rooted in the Black diaspora—through storytelling, research, and conversation. Building on a living archive that has been active since 2018, the campaign seizes an opportunity to expand how these traditions are explored and preserved for contemporary audiences.

Waiting risks missing the momentum of a proven body of work and delaying the development of a video docuseries designed to examine the diversity of religion, culture, and faith practices across the United States and beyond—guided by the central question of what is lost when God’s image is ignored in the diversity of human religiosity.

What This Campaign Can Unlock

If this campaign succeeds, it will unlock a new video docuseries at the intersection of travel and spirituality, extending Juju Bae’s work beyond audio into a visual format that can reach new audiences. The series will reveal diverse faith traditions across America and around the world, creating a broader public-facing exploration of religion, culture, and spiritual practice.

This next phase builds on “A Little Juju Podcast” as a living archive of Black spirituality and its relevance in modern life, translating the project’s blend of personal narrative, expert conversation, folklore, and cultural history into a docuseries that deepens cultural memory and connection to ancestral wisdom.

What This Campaign Delivers

The campaign will deliver the development of a new video docuseries focused on travel and spirituality, with Juju Bae revealing diverse faith traditions across America and around the world. It will also advance a broader examination of religion, culture, and faith practices across the United States, grounded in the project’s guiding question about what is missed when God’s image is not recognized in the diversity of human religiosity.

The source material does not specify numeric targets or a reporting framework. Progress can be tracked and reported through clear development milestones for the docuseries (e.g., completion of research, story development, and production planning) and documented outputs produced through the funded development work.
