MUSLIM LEGAL FUND OF AMERICA

The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) is a Richardson, Texas–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds and litigates federal civil, immigration, and criminal-defense cases affecting American Muslims. MLFA also provides legal education, governance support to Muslim nonprofits, and runs the National Security Criminal Defense Center (NSCDC) to coordinate specialized defense work. MLFA operates nationwide, underwriting litigation and case representation for imams, community leaders, activists, and individuals who face government scrutiny or prosecutions framed as national security matters. The organization combines direct legal funding with strategic public advocacy, coalitions, and technical support to strengthen constitutional protections for Muslims in the U.S. In recent years MLFA has maintained a substantial active caseload and undertaken high‑profile litigation and petitions at the federal appellate and Supreme Court levels, while expanding donor-facing programs such as monthly giving networks and scholarship initiatives to support legal talent and community leadership.
