About Crested Butte Avalanche Center (CBAC)
The Crested Butte Avalanche Center (CBAC) is a local nonprofit forecast center serving the Crested Butte, Colorado region. It produces daily avalanche forecasts, collects field observations, and delivers public education aimed at reducing avalanche-related injuries and fatalities.
CBAC is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 02-0703033) and has issued seasonal forecasts and outreach since the early 2000s, partnering with volunteers, local search-and-rescue resources, and regional forecast platforms to maintain community safety.
