THE GATEWAY ACADEMY INC

The Gateway Academy is a private, nonprofit school in Houston, Texas that serves students in grades 6–12 with social and learning differences (including autism spectrum, ADHD, anxiety, and learning disabilities). Since opening in 2006 the school reports having served 500+ students and positions individualized academic supports and social-emotional skill-building at the center of its work. Gateway combines small, specialized classroom instruction with real-world internship and employment-readiness programming and an expanding postsecondary transition pathway (the Gateway Adult Program, GAP) for young adults. Programming emphasizes self-advocacy, independent-living skills, and sustained internship partnerships with local businesses. In recent years Gateway has strengthened institutional quality and measurable outcomes: it earned Cognia accreditation, reports sustained fundraising support (annual fundraising above $700k in 2024–25), and documents a high postsecondary success rate for alumni (employed or enrolled in further education).
