About GLASSTIRE

Glasstire was founded in 2001 by Houston writer Rainey Knudson and is widely described by the organization as the oldest online-only art magazine in the United States. Glasstire publishes daily criticism, features, reviews, videos, and podcasts and maintains a large searchable archive documenting exhibitions and events across Texas. The publication reports an archive of more than 30,000 articles and events and reaches hundreds of thousands of readers annually, while also producing curated editorial features and annual "Best of" coverage that highlight notable regional practice.

In recent years Glasstire has reported growth in institutional support and operating resources, continuing to receive grants from major arts funders and to invest in editorial and multimedia initiatives. Recent publicly reported financials (fiscal 2024) show annual revenues in the mid-six-figure range and positive net operating activity, and leadership is led by Publisher/Executive Director Brandon Zech (publisher since 2019), supported by a small professional staff and contributing writers.
