KUNDIMAN INC

Kundiman is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds community and provides artistic and professional support for Asian American and Pacific Islander writers through an annual Retreat, regional groups, online classes, readings, and mentorship programs. Its signature program, the Kundiman Retreat, pairs emerging Fellows with established faculty in craft classes and one-on-one mentorship, and the organization also runs reading series and partnerships with other literary institutions. In recent years Kundiman has expanded program accessibility and visibility: it ran a fee-free Retreat in 2024, continues to offer online classes and ten regional groups, and announced the 2026 Retreat (June 15–20, 2026) to take place at Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn campus. Kundiman reports substantial Fellow outcomes—nearly 400 books and chapbooks by Fellows since 2004 and Fellows’ appearances in major outlets and receipt of major literary awards—demonstrating measurable impact on Asian American literary careers.
