The Historical Society, Inc. (serving Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown) is a long-established local historical organization founded in 1889 that collects, preserves, and presents materials documenting the communities’ history. It operates a museum and archives (including stewardship of the Jacob Odell House), provides research services, and maintains a community-focused program calendar. In recent years the Society has remained active with exhibitions, public lectures, its annual Strawberry Festival, preservation awards and community history programs (including an ongoing series of essays and events highlighting local Black history).
