The Inter-Religious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO), founded in 1967, is a national interfaith foundation that supports grassroots community organizations, especially those led by people of color, through grants, fiscal sponsorship, training and international solidarity work. IFCO operates programs including fiscal sponsorship, a medical scholarship program (ELAM) for U.S. students, and Pastors for Peace / Friendshipment humanitarian and solidarity campaigns focused on Cuba, Latin America and the global south. In recent years the organization has continued grantmaking, fiscal sponsorships, public education events, and international advocacy, and it maintains current public-facing communications and fundraising channels.

Founding milestone (1967)
Established in 1967, IFCO is historically noted as one of the first national foundations led by people of color and has sustained decades of organizing, grantmaking and interfaith solidarity work.
Longstanding humanitarian solidarity (Pastors for Peace / Friendshipment)
For decades IFCO’s Pastors for Peace / Friendshipment initiatives have organized shipments, aid caravans and people-to-people exchanges to deliver humanitarian assistance and build international solidarity with communities in Cuba, Mexico, Haiti and the Caribbean.
ELAM scholarship & fiscal sponsorship programs
IFCO administers scholarships for low-income U.S. students to study at Cuba’s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support that channels funds to grassroots community organizations and campaigns.
