About INSTITUTE FOR MEDIATION AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION INC

The Institute for Mediation and Conflict Resolution (IMCR) is a Bronx-based 501(c)(3) community dispute resolution center that provides free mediation, arbitration, restorative justice, conflict coaching and anger management services primarily to Bronx County and surrounding communities. IMCR operates a dispute resolution center and a robust training program that certifies mediators (40-hour basic training plus apprenticeship) and offers continuing legal education credits for New York attorneys. The organization has a long history of partnering with courts, city agencies, schools and community groups to divert low-level disputes from court and to build local conflict-resolution capacity. In recent years IMCR has continued direct service and training activity: its most recent public filings show fiscal-year activity through 2024, and its program calendar included community mediation courses (for example, a spring mediation training held in May 2025).

Notable achievements

Extensive mediator training

IMCR reports having trained more than 14,000 individuals in mediation and conflict resolution since its founding, and continues to offer a 40-hour basic training with apprenticeship that leads to mediator certification.

Substantial recent casework

IMCR has continued active dispute intake and case resolution; published organizational data indicate the center handled over 1,500 civilian-initiated complaints at its Dispute Resolution Center in recent reporting.

Sustained financial operations (2024)

According to the organization's most recent filings, IMCR reported total revenue of approximately $498,405 and total expenses of approximately $568,557 for its fiscal year ending December 2024, demonstrating continued, operating-scale activity in the community dispute-resolution sector.
