About AMERICAN FRIENDS OF SCHNEIDER CHILDRENS MEDICAL CENTER OF ISRAEL
American Friends of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charity created to raise philanthropic support for Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, the country’s leading stand‑alone pediatric hospital. The organization solicits and directs donations in the United States to fund advanced research, family-centered care, facility expansion, and programs that are not covered by government healthcare funding.
American Friends of Schneider focuses fundraising on capital projects, translational research, specialized clinical programs, and comprehensive family support services that improve outcomes for children across Israel and the region. As a donor-facing American partner to Schneider Children’s, it maintains an active web presence and donor engagement programs to connect U.S. supporters with the hospital’s mission.
In recent years the organization supported major hospital growth and emergency-response operations — including the July 2023 opening of a major expansion (the Glass Building) that doubled clinical and family-care space, and sustained uninterrupted pediatric care during regional security crises by operating Schneider Children’s fortified emergency complex and returning patients to wards after prolonged emergency operations.
Notable achievements
Glass Building expansion (July 2023)
Supported the hospital’s Glass Building project which opened in July 2023, doubling the hospital’s physical footprint and expanding operating rooms, clinics, diagnostic/treatment space, and family-centered facilities.
Sustained emergency operations during regional conflict (2026)
Maintained continuous pediatric care from Schneider Children’s fortified underground emergency complex during missile attacks and coordinated the safe transfer of patients back to wards after 40 days of emergency operations in 2026.
Expanded educational and family programs (2025)
Helped fund hospital programs that supported continuity of education for hospitalized children (approximately 9,000 children served in 2025) and increased family-centered services and research capacity.
