About Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights (NMCIR)
Founded in 1982, NMCIR is a community-based 501(c)(3) organization that provides direct immigration legal services, citizenship and ESL education, workforce development, and community organizing for low-income immigrant communities in northern Manhattan and adjacent neighborhoods. NMCIR operates walk-in legal clinics, remote consultations, citizenship and civics classes, and a worker center. In recent years the organization has received federal citizenship/integration grant funding and continued to provide high-volume intake and casework services while engaging in advocacy efforts such as campaigns for universal representation for detained immigrants.
