JEWS FOR RACIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE (JFREJ)
JFREJ organizes Jewish New Yorkers to dismantle racism, economic injustice, and state violence and to build a caring, democratic city and state — drawing on Jewish values and grassroots people power to win policy change, electoral power, and community alternatives.
About JEWS FOR RACIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE (JFREJ)
Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) is a New York–based grassroots Jewish organization that organizes Jewish residents to pursue racial, economic, and social justice through campaigns, neighborhood groups, caucuses, culture, and electoral work. JFREJ combines community organizing, coalition campaigns, and an electoral arm (The Jewish Vote) to push for policy wins in areas including care economy reforms, housing and tenants’ rights, ending racist policing and deportations, and hate-violence prevention. The organization reports a membership in the thousands and operates both a 501(c)(3) community/organizing arm and a 501(c)(4)/electoral presence that coordinate organizing and endorsements. In recent years JFREJ has remained active in New York politics and civic life—running membership-driven campaigns, endorsing and mobilizing voters for progressive candidates, and partnering with frontline community organizations to pursue concrete policy and legislative goals at city and state levels.
Notable achievements
Built a sustained electoral program (The Jewish Vote)
JFREJ launched and scaled The Jewish Vote to organize Jewish progressive voters and volunteers across New York; the effort has endorsed and mobilized for numerous progressive city and state campaigns and contributed to multiple local election victories.
Strong, sustained grassroots base and financial scale
JFREJ reports a membership in the thousands and, in recent filings, annual revenues in the mid-to-high six figures to low seven figures, supporting year-round organizing, staff, and campaign activities across New York City and State.
Policy and coalition wins on care and labor issues
Working in coalition with homecare, labor, and community groups, JFREJ has been an active partner in campaigns to improve pay and protections for care workers and to advance caring-economy policy priorities in New York, while also organizing visible public actions and cultural events that keep those issues in public debate.
