About APNE AAP INTERNATIONAL INC

Apne Aap International Inc (EIN 13-4199270) is a New York–based 501(c)(3) that raises funds and conducts advocacy in support of Apne Aap Women Worldwide, a grassroots organization working in India to prevent and exit women and girls from sex trafficking. The U.S. office focuses on fundraising, public education, events and global advocacy to amplify the work of community Self-Empowerment Groups (SEGs) on the ground.

Apne Aap’s program model combines community organizing, legal aid, education, livelihoods and policy campaigning (the organization describes a "Ten Assets"/10x10 approach) to reduce vulnerability to trafficking and to create sustainable exits from prostitution. In recent years the organization has continued public-facing campaigns and annual fundraising/awareness events (The Last Girl Awards, held in partnership with Asia Society) to support meals, schooling, safe spaces and livelihood linkages for women and children in red-light areas and marginalized communities.

Large-scale direct service impact

Through its network of community centres and Self-Empowerment Groups, Apne Aap reports delivering substantial direct assistance including meals, safe spaces, government IDs, schooling and livelihood linkages for thousands of women and children over time.

Establishment and scaling of SEGs and community programs

Apne Aap has built a sustained grassroots model—Self-Empowerment Groups, legal aid units, non-formal education centres and vocational training programs—that has enabled women to open bank accounts, form savings groups, access government entitlements, and pursue livelihoods outside the sex industry.

Last Girl Awards (annual platform and fundraiser)

Since its inception the Last Girl Awards has grown into an annual international event (partnered with Asia Society) that recognizes abolitionist leaders, raises funds for programmatic relief (meals, hygiene, education) and increases visibility for survivor-led and grassroots anti-trafficking work.
