About The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) — now Blood Cancer United

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1949 that funds blood cancer research, provides free patient education and support services, and advocates for policies to improve access to care. LLS is the largest voluntary funder of blood-cancer research and has made sustained investments in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine.

In 2024–2025 LLS continued major research and equity initiatives (including a 2024 Equity in Access research cohort and partnerships to expand clinical trial navigation) and in August 2025 the organization unveiled a new public identity as Blood Cancer United while retaining the same mission and programs. LLS reports having invested more than $1.8 billion in blood cancer research since 1949 and has set a bold goal to enable patients to gain one million years of life by 2040.
