Davis Phinney Foundation
We help people with Parkinson’s live well today by providing practical education, tools, programs, and community support that improve quality of life while research toward a cure continues.
About Davis Phinney Foundation
Founded in 2004 by Olympic cyclist Davis Phinney, the Davis Phinney Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on improving day-to-day quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners.
The Foundation develops and distributes evidence-informed resources (webinars, guides, and programs), supports community-based ambassadors and grassroots initiatives, and runs fundraising rides and campaigns to underwrite programs and early-stage research.
In recent years (2023–2025) the Foundation has continued to expand its digital education offerings and community programs, reaching hundreds of thousands to more than a million people annually and running signature fundraising and awareness events such as Pedaling for Parkinson’s rides and Team DPF cycling experiences.
Notable achievements
Established, scalable education platform
Built a widely used 'Live Well Today' library of practical guides, webinars, and tools that together reach hundreds of thousands (and, by Foundation reporting, over one million) people and families annually.
Pedaling for Parkinson’s program
Developed and promoted cycling-focused programs and fundraisers rooted in research showing high-intensity/forced exercise can produce meaningful symptom improvements for people with Parkinson’s.
Sustained community fundraising model
Grew Team DPF and event-based fundraising (rides and Pedal in Place events) so community fundraisers contribute a substantial portion of operating revenue and support program expansion.
