The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, Southern California Chapter (legal name: INSTITUTE OF CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE AND ART INC) is a regional chapter of the national ICAA network that promotes the study, practice, and appreciation of classical and traditional architecture and its allied arts. The chapter organizes public lectures, workshops, tours, awards, and member events that connect practicing architects, artisans, students, and enthusiasts across Southern California. The chapter runs education initiatives for K–12 and adult learners, including the long-running New Heights middle‑school program, studio courses, field studies to regional landmarks, and an annual Legacy Award gala that honors notable contributors to the classical tradition. New Heights education program
Operates an immersive New Heights program for middle-school students that provides multi-day studio instruction and field trips to regional landmarks (e.g., The Huntington, The Getty Villa, Greystone Mansion), introducing students to classical orders, drawing, and basic construction principles; the program has run for more than a decade and continues to be offered free to many partner schools.
20th anniversary of the chapter
Marked two decades of regional activity in 2024, reflecting sustained volunteer engagement, local partnerships, and a continuing slate of educational programs and public events across Southern California.
Annual Legacy Award gala
