About CENTRAL AREA NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION

Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization (CANDO) is a 501(c)(3) neighborhood organization serving the Central neighborhood of Minneapolis. It organizes residents around anti-racist community-building, food justice, tenant/eviction support, and environmental justice while operating signature programs such as Plant‑Grow‑Share (community food and gardening programming) and participating in the South Central Minneapolis Antiracism Collective (SMAC). In recent years CANDO has expanded program delivery and public partnerships: it has been an active City of Minneapolis Homegrown grant recipient to support Plant‑Grow‑Share, served as a city subrecipient for local recovery funding, and partnered with tenant‑organizing groups to provide eviction defense and tenant resources. CANDO's most recently reported IRS filing shows a substantial increase in revenue in the 2024 fiscal year as its operations and community programs scaled.
