About MINNESOTANS MILITARY APPRECIATION FUND

Minnesotans’ Military Appreciation Fund (MMAF) is a statewide, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2005 that raises private donations to provide cash grants to Minnesota service members who have served in combat zones since September 11, 2001, and to the families of those killed in action. The organization operates a volunteer-driven fundraising initiative and grant program that distributes awards directly to eligible service members and bereaved families across every county in Minnesota. MMAF maintains an active public-facing web presence, accepts donations online, publishes events and program milestones, and continues regular outreach to donors and veterans' communities.

20,000th grant awarded

In August 2025 MMAF marked a milestone celebration and presented its 20,000th grant check during a 20th-anniversary reception, recognizing two decades of support for Minnesota service members and families.

More than $13.7 million distributed

Since inception, MMAF has awarded over $13.7 million in direct cash grants to more than 20,150 recipients, maintaining a high percentage of donated funds directed to grants.
