About Agape Development Ministries

Agape Development Ministries is a Houston-based faith-rooted community development organization that runs neighborhood-based programs for children, teens, young adults and adults while advancing affordable housing through its Agape Homes CDC. The organization operates after-school and out-of-school-time programming, social enterprises, rental and homeownership initiatives, and residential support programs aimed at stabilizing families and developing local leaders. In recent years Agape has expanded its housing work and community services: by the end of 2024 the organization had completed and sold dozens of affordable homes and continued operating its Haven of OST rental program and after‑school literacy and youth leadership programs. Agape presents ministry and community development as integrated work—combining faith formation, education and housing to reduce displacement and strengthen long-term neighborhood stability.

Notable achievements

Affordable homebuilding and sales

Through Agape Homes CDC the organization advanced a multi‑phase homebuilding program in the OST/South Union neighborhood, completing and selling dozens of affordable homes (40 homes sold by the end of 2024) and planning a larger development of community‑designed homes intended to preserve affordability for long‑time neighbors.

After‑school literacy impact

Agape’s after‑school programming (BBC/Reading Buddy and Haven of OST out‑of‑school programs) enrolled cohorts of children and produced strong literacy results, with program reporting that a cohort of about 75 students reached roughly 90% success at meeting grade‑level reading benchmarks.

Two decades of neighborhood transformation

Agape celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025, marking sustained neighborhood engagement since 2005 and the development of ministry infrastructure (Ministry Center, Haven of OST, social enterprises and housing projects) used in ongoing programming and community tours.
