Colorado Youth for a Change addresses barriers to learning by providing individualized supports throughout pivotal stages of students’ education journeys, with the broader goal of solving Colorado’s dropout crisis.
About COLORADO YOUTH FOR A CHANGE
Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 20-2501002) that places AmeriCorps members and program staff in schools and communities to prevent dropout and reengage young people who have left school without a diploma.
CYC operates a continuum of programs that span early learning through high school and young adult reengagement, partnering with school districts and community organizations to provide tutoring, case management, outreach, and individualized education planning.
In recent years CYC has expanded program scale and partnerships (including stewardship of the Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative and a multi-year scaling investment awarded in 2024) and reports outcomes showing thousands of students served and measurable growth in academic and reengagement indicators.

Across recent program years CYC reports serving thousands of students statewide (several thousand served annually, with district partnerships spanning dozens of Colorado districts and schools) and conducting thousands of outreach contacts to reengage youth.
Selected backbone for Denver initiative
In 2022 CYC became the backbone organization for the Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative, coordinating partners to build education and workforce pathways for disconnected young people.
Scaling investment to expand reengagement
In late 2024 CYC received a multi-year scaling investment to expand and evaluate programs that support reengagement and postsecondary pathways, enabling growth of the Reengagement Program in multiple districts.
