About LAX COASTAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION

LAX Coastal Education Foundation (LAXCEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Los Angeles that raises funds, awards grants, and runs community programs to support K–12 schools in the LAX coastal neighborhoods (Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Del Rey, Marina del Rey and nearby communities). The foundation operates recurring community-facing events (race/expo, spelling bee, art show, school expo) to both raise unrestricted funds and enable schools to fundraise directly; it also manages competitive grant programs for STEM, arts, and school beautification. In recent years LAXCEF has run corporate-partnered grant programs (for example with SoCalGas), distributed multi-school STEM awards for the 2023–2024 school year, and continued its annual Rock Roll & Run fundraising event and student competitions.

Notable achievements

2023–2024 SoCalGas STEM Grants

Partnered with Southern California Gas Company to distribute $49,833 in STEM grants for the 2023–2024 school year to local K–12 schools, funding robotics, energy/sustainability projects, science fairs and curriculum at numerous foundation schools.

Annual Rock Roll & Run fundraiser

Operates a community 5K/1K (Rock Roll & Run) that consistently raises funds for local schools and provides an event platform for school-level fundraising; the foundation hosted a Rock Roll & Run event scheduled for March 7, 2026 on the Loyola Marymount University campus.

Arts & Beautification grant program

Runs an Arts & Beautification grants program (2023–2024 cycle awarding grants up to $2,500) to support campus improvement, art projects and extracurricular arts programming across member schools.
