Safer Dallas Better Dallas is an active Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with the Dallas Police Department, civic organizations, businesses, and neighborhood groups to fund technology, training, and community programs that reduce crime and strengthen public trust. The organization was founded in 2005 and focuses on targeted investments such as neighborhood cameras, bait cars, narcotics dogs, officer equipment, youth outreach and training initiatives. Notable achievements

Major fundraising for DPD and Caruth Police Institute

Played a central role in securing a large Caruth Fund grant and related fundraising that enabled equipment purchases and the establishment of the Caruth Police Institute for leadership and training.

Technology and systems funding (Project Starlight & iWatch)

Funded and helped launch the iWatch Dallas mobile/tip platform (one of the first police department smartphone tip apps) and supported the Project Starlight public-safety camera and analytics pilot, progressing to an enhanced citywide deployment.

Targeted hot-spot investments and program support

Raised and directed multi‑hundred‑thousand dollar gifts for hot-spot TAAG area technology, bait-car programs, narcotics dogs, body cameras, and initiatives such as the DPD to You(th) summer jobs/mentoring program and SANE sexual-assault examiner expansion.
