About THE GEANCO FOUNDATION

The GEANCO Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 20-3498204) headquartered in Los Angeles that operates donor-facing programs focused on maternal & infant health, surgical missions, anemia screening/treatment, and education in Nigeria. The EIN and tax-exempt status were confirmed against the organization’s own filings and major nonprofit data sources. GEANCO runs solar-powered maternal & family clinics, trains local clinicians through minimally invasive surgical missions, and funds a leadership scholarship for girls affected by conflict and gender inequality.

Notable achievements

Network of Solar-Powered Maternal & Family Clinics

Built a network of modular, solar-powered maternal and family clinics in southeast Nigeria (multiple centers opened since 2020) that provide prenatal care, safe deliveries, child vaccinations, nurse/midwife training and routine community health services; the program reports covering the cost of prenatal care and anemia treatment for roughly 400 vulnerable pregnant women each month.

Surgical Missions & Local Capacity Building

Conducted recurring minimally-invasive surgical missions that have delivered hundreds of procedures (including hip/knee replacements historically and laparoscopic hernia, gallbladder, appendix and gynecologic surgeries more recently) and expanded local capacity by training Nigerian surgeons; in 2024 all mission surgeries were performed by experienced local surgeons trained through GEANCO programs (78 surgeries completed during a recent mission).

David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls

Launched and expanded a multi-year leadership scholarship program for vulnerable girls in Nigeria that provides tuition, room & board, healthcare, leadership and STEM education, and psychosocial support, helping participants pursue secondary education and leadership opportunities.
