HARLEM NEEDLE ARTS INC

Harlem Needle Arts, founded in 2005 and based in Harlem, New York, is a community-centered cultural arts organization that preserves and expands the stories, techniques, and practices of fiber, textile, and needle arts within the African Diaspora. The organization delivers public exhibitions, paid artist opportunities, hands-on classes and workshops, and community-based installations and programs that center textile makers and histories. In recent years HNA has expanded its public programming and partnerships: it has run the Urban Threads initiative of exhibitions and workshops, produced annual public installations in community spaces, operated a storefront gallery/creative space for exhibitions and classes, and delivered intergenerational programming including multi-month series for Harlem seniors. HNA remains an active 501(c)(3) organization with ongoing fundraising, classes, and grant-supported projects.
