About NEUROSPRING INC

NeuroSpring (NEUROSPRING INC) is a Napa, California–based 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2005 and certified by the IRS as a public charity since 2006. The organization’s stated mission is to advance neuroscientific research and training that improves care for underserved communities, with a particular focus on emergency neurological conditions. NeuroSpring develops medical technologies (notably the Virtual Neurologist AI diagnostic project and facial-nerve stimulation approaches), operates a teleneurology initiative (TeleSpring), and runs a long-standing internship and scholar program for high-school and college students. The charity reports active grant support from national funders and places the majority of its incoming donations toward research and internship programs.

Notable achievements

Virtual Neurologist development

Advanced an AI-supported diagnostic prototype (the "Virtual Neurologist") intended to identify neurological emergencies in ambulances and emergency departments; the project is being developed in collaboration with industry partners and has moved through prototype work and pilot-stage device development toward ambulance and ED testing.

Facial nerve stimulation program

Led preclinical development and early human volunteer testing of facial-nerve stimulation as a potential emergency therapy for brain ischemia (stroke/traumatic brain injury), supporting peer-reviewed publications and translational-study activity that helped establish the group as a contributor in this niche of emergency neuromodulation research.

Internship & scholars program

Operates a multi-year training program that has introduced over 20 high-school interns to basic science and engineering, reports more than 90% of those interns advancing to STEM college paths, and supports the NeuroSpring Scholars college scholarships for select interns.
