About UPPER MIDWEST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is an NCAA Division III collegiate athletic conference based in Saint Paul, Minnesota that organizes competition, championships, awards, and governance for its member institutions across the Upper Midwest. The conference is structured as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and focuses on enhancing the student‑athlete experience through athletic competition, academic recognition, sportsmanship, and professional development for coaches and staff. Annual Conference Championships

Administers a regular schedule of NCAA Division III conference championships across multiple sports (fall, winter and spring seasons); the conference recognized 18 championships in the 2023–24 academic year and continues to stage postseason championships and awards each year.

Student‑Athlete Recognition & Leadership Awards

Operates a comprehensive awards and leadership program (including Scholar‑Athlete Leadership Award and weekly Athlete of the Week honors) that highlights on‑field performance and academic/community service for member student‑athletes.

Governance & New Initiatives (2024–2026)

Launched new conference initiatives in 2024–2026 including the Jim Unke UMAC Legacy Award (2025) and a Conference Hall of Fame program (announced 2025) to formally recognize contributors to the conference’s mission.
