RE-USE HAWAII

Re-use Hawai‘i operates deconstruction, material-reuse retail, tree-milling, and workforce-development programs that keep usable building materials and wood out of Hawaiʻi’s landfills while creating paid training and employment pathways. The organization accepts donated materials, operates a public store with reclaimed building supplies and furniture, and provides deconstruction services as a sustainable alternative to demolition.

In the last several years Re-use Hawai‘i has expanded its retail and program footprint, documented multi-year diversion and savings metrics (including cumulative tons diverted and annual pounds kept out of the landfill), and participated in local pilot programs and policy discussions to scale construction & demolition waste diversion. It also maintains active workforce-development work aimed at people overcoming employment barriers and operates projects that serve builders, contractors, lower-cost shoppers, and the wider public.
