About THEATRE FLAMENCO OF SAN FRANCISCO INC
Theatre Flamenco of San Francisco, founded in 1966, is one of the longest continually running flamenco companies outside of Spain and the second-oldest professional dance company in the Bay Area. The nonprofit produces full theatrical flamenco seasons, monthly studio tablao performances, and touring/guest-artist presentations that blend traditional flamenco with contemporary influences. In the last 2–3 years the company has returned to active in-person programming with large-scale productions (for example Un Mundo sin Tiempo) and ongoing studio activity: regular class terms, guest-artist workshops, monthly El Rincón performances, and an annual student/company showcase (spring 2026 events and a May 3, 2026 student showcase are part of the current season). The organization operates a Mission District studio (670 South Van Ness) used for classes, rehearsals, small performances and community rentals. Theatre Flamenco maintains a sustained education and community-engagement focus: it offers youth and adult flamenco classes, scholarships (including programs supported by local arts funding), donated tickets and outreach performances, and opportunities for local musicians and dancers to perform alongside visiting international artists.
