About The Action Center (JeffCo Action Center)
The Action Center (JeffCo Action Center) is a Jefferson County, Colorado nonprofit founded in 1968 that serves as a community hub delivering immediate basic needs and longer-term stabilization services for people experiencing hardship or homelessness.
Core services include client-choice food distribution and a Food Hub, a clothing market and household goods distribution, housing navigation and rent/utility assistance, case management and supportive services, and targeted seasonal programs such as school supply drives and Thanksgiving meal distributions.
The organization operates in partnership with local food banks, municipalities, foundations and community partners to expand access to fresh food and to coordinate countywide resources for families, students, and people experiencing homelessness.
Notable achievements
Creation and expansion of a Food Hub
Launched a Food Hub with cold-storage capacity to accept pallets of fresh/frozen food and redistribute across local pantries, improving access to nutritious food in the West Metro area.
Large annual Thanksgiving distribution
Runs an annual Thanksgiving meal distribution that provides more than 1,400 household meal kits through a drive-through model to preserve dignity and efficiency.
Major community partnerships and grants
Secured community grant awards and foundation support in recent years and partnered with local organizations, businesses and donors to scale services and emergency response capacity.
