About Denver Lyric Opera Guild
Denver Lyric Opera Guild (DLOG) is a volunteer-led, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1965 and based in the Denver area. The organization’s work centers on supporting emerging Colorado singers and promoting opera appreciation through education, grants, competitions, concerts and member programs.
DLOG’s signature programs include the annual Competition for Colorado Singers, grants and scholarships to Colorado colleges/university and apprentice programs, and regular member education events (Opera on Tuesday, masterclasses and regional tours). In recent seasons (2023–2025) DLOG has continued its annual competitions, Opera on Tuesday recitals, summer social events, and grantmaking to promote young artist development.
Notable achievements
Sustained financial support to artists and programs
To date the Guild has distributed more than $1.5 million in competition awards and grants to Colorado singers and training programs, sustaining long-term investment in regional vocal talent.
Established, long-running competition
The Competition for Colorado Singers (inaugurated in 1984) has become the Guild’s signature program and has launched the careers of numerous finalists and winners who went on to professional engagements.
Decades of continuous operation
Founded in 1965 and tax-exempt since the mid-1970s, DLOG maintains an active volunteer membership (210+ members) and a steady program calendar of competitions, recitals and educational events.
