About ARVADA HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC.

The Arvada Historical Society is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit (tax-exempt since the early 1970s) that preserves and interprets the local history of Arvada, Colorado through museums, archives, historic-site stewardship, public programs, and community partnerships.

Headquartered at the historic McIlvoy House, the Society manages collections and sites including the Arvada Flour Mill and Belgin Cemetery, operates a research library and digital archive, and offers exhibitions, walking tours, educational programs and special events for residents, students, researchers and visitors.

Notable achievements

Longstanding nonprofit stewardship

Established in the early 1970s and operating continuously as a volunteer-led 501(c)(3), the Society has sustained archives, a museum program, and historic-site stewardship for decades.

Arvada Flour Mill preservation

Long-term stewardship and programming at the historic Arvada Flour Mill, including recent restoration planning and revived public mill tours and community celebrations marking the mill’s place in Arvada history.

Digital collections rollout

Ongoing digitization of photographs, newspapers and documents and public access to a growing digital archive and online research resources, increasing remote access to Arvada’s historical materials.
