About WOMENS ADVOCATES INC
Women’s Advocates is a long-established Saint Paul nonprofit that operates a crisis shelter, outreach, housing-stability programs, and advocacy services for people escaping domestic violence. The organization provides shelter-based advocacy, crisis response, legal and family support advocacy, mental health and wellness programming, and community outreach including Pop-Up Advocacy events. Founded as the nation’s first domestic violence shelter, Women’s Advocates has continued to expand beyond emergency shelter into transitional and scattered-site housing, prevention and public education, and partnership-based initiatives; in recent years it has received federal and state victim-services grants and maintained regular public programming and community outreach.
