About NAVY LEAGUE OF THE UNITED STATES HONOLULU COUNCIL

The Navy League of the United States Honolulu Council is an active, donor-facing local council of the national Navy League and is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The council advances public understanding of the Sea Services, advocates for maritime preparedness, and provides direct morale and family-support programs across Hawai‘i and the Pacific.

The council runs recurring programs and events including Sea Service Awards, American Patriot Awards, Navy and Marine Corps Balls, spouse recognition events, and partnerships with youth organizations such as the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and local STEM/ROTC efforts. It also supports wounded warrior activities and community-facing education sessions on veterans’ benefits and resources.

In recent years the Honolulu Council has remained operational and financially active, filing annual Form 990 returns and reporting sustained contributions and program spending that fund awards, scholarships, cadet activities, and community support efforts. The council continues to host and participate in regionally significant maritime-security and community events.

Annual Sea Service Awards

Maintains an annual Sea Service Awards program that recognizes outstanding Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and Merchant Mariners across Hawai‘i and the Pacific; the council regularly solicits nominations and stages awards ceremonies that highlight regional service and leadership.

Sustained Youth & Cadet Support

Provides ongoing sponsorship and program support for youth leadership initiatives including the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, local STEM camps and Junior ROTC/Young Marines partnerships, producing recurring training, mentorship and scholarship opportunities for young people.

Significant Community Partnerships

Works with regional partners such as Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Armed Services YMCA Honolulu and Windward Wounded Warriors to deliver morale, apprenticeship recognition and family-support programs; recent Form 990 filings show continued community fundraising and program expenditures that sustain these efforts.
