About United for a New Economy

United for a New Economy (UNE) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization (EIN: 26-0019190) focused on grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, research, and leadership development in the Denver metro area, especially Adams County (Commerce City and Westminster).

UNE works with low-income residents, immigrant communities, people of color, renters, workers and allied partners to win local and state policy changes—combining base-building, civic engagement, policy research and leadership training to advance housing, labor and tenant protections and to grow a multiracial voting majority.

In recent years UNE has led tenant organizing and housing justice efforts, supported statewide coalitions, served as a fiscal sponsor for housing and leadership networks, and mobilized members for legislative testimony and election-cycle civic work.

Notable achievements

For-Cause Eviction policy advocacy (2024)

UNE members worked with partners and provided legislative testimony in 2024 to advance strong for-cause eviction protections at the state level, contributing to one of the more robust tenant-protection policies passed in that cycle.

Paid Family & Medical Leave (FAMLI) leadership (2020)

UNE co‑chaired the statewide committee to pass Colorado’s paid family and medical leave program, helping design outreach and coalition strategy that secured passage.

Campaign for Responsible Development (local CBA model)

Early work as the Front Range Economic Strategy Center helped pilot community benefits agreements and local development accountability models that influenced later municipal redevelopment and community planning processes.
