About TRAUMA SUPPORT SERVICES OF NORTH TEXAS
Trauma Support Services of North Texas (TSSNT) is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2007 that provides trauma-informed mental health therapy, advocacy, and education to survivors of crime and other traumatic events. The organization delivers no-cost or sliding-scale therapy to people without ability to pay and operates a training arm, the Trauma Care Institute (TCI), which offers live and on-demand trauma trainings and a trauma-informed care certificate program. In recent years TSSNT has reported expanding direct-services impact (tens of thousands of therapy hours delivered) and sustained program-focused revenues with the majority of spending directed to program services. The agency serves clients across the Dallas–Fort Worth region through in-person and HIPAA-compliant telehealth therapy and partners with local medical examiner offices, schools, and regional agencies to provide advocacy and crisis response. TSSNT combines direct clinical services with workforce development by training clinicians and community professionals in evidence-based trauma treatment, increasing local capacity to respond to homicide, sexual assault, child abuse, mass violence, motor vehicle crashes, human trafficking and related traumas.
Notable achievements
Large-scale direct therapy provision
Since its founding TSSNT has provided tens of thousands of hours of trauma-informed therapy (the organization reports over 44,000 hours) and serves roughly 900–1,000 clients per year on average, focusing services on people who lack insurance or the ability to pay.
Established Trauma Care Institute (TCI)
Built a training arm that offers state-of-the-art trauma therapy trainings, free statewide webinars, an on‑demand learning platform, and an annual Trauma‑Informed Care Certificate program to increase regional trauma-treatment capacity.
Secured regional program funding
In recent grant cycles TSSNT received competitive regional funding to expand trauma therapy for child victims and related services, enabling greater reach into Dallas‑area schools and partner agencies.
