About LILJESTRAND FOUNDATION

The Liljestrand Foundation is a private, donor-facing nonprofit based in Honolulu that owns, preserves, and operates the Liljestrand House, a noted example of Hawaiian Modern architecture by Vladimir Ossipoff. The organization runs public tours, educational programs, exhibitions, and events that use the house and its archives to teach about mid-century Hawaiian architecture and design. Founded by the Liljestrand family in 2007, the foundation completed transfer of ownership of the house to the nonprofit in 2015 and has since professionalized operations, expanded public access, and developed a multi-year strategic plan to guide preservation and program growth. The foundation sustains its work through donations, program revenue (including tours), and grant support, and has reported recent annual revenue and asset levels consistent with an active operating foundation.
