About Sustainable Communities Fund

Sustainable Communities Fund (SCF) is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that operates a revolving investment fund focused on financial inclusion, small business development, and affordable housing in underserved communities. Founded in 2011 and governed by a board with deep CDFI and impact-investing experience, SCF provides patient capital, technical assistance, and partnership financing to mission-aligned lenders and community development organizations across the U.S. The organization maintains an active donor-facing website and continues to deploy capital and support investees through partnerships and targeted awards.

Notable achievements

Grameen America investment — capital rotation

SCF invested $350,000 in the Grameen America Social Business Fund; across the fund’s lifecycle (2019–2022) that investment helped support roughly $5 million in end-user loans to low-income women entrepreneurs (about 1,300 loans), achieving an estimated ~14.5x capital rotation.

CDFI ERP award

Named an award recipient in the U.S. CDFI Fund Equitable Recovery Program, receiving $500,000 to strengthen lending capacity and support underserved communities.
