Prevention is key. Women Speaking Out gives a voice to the women and youth of Hawaiʻi by empowering them with education, innovative action, and opportunities to speak out and take a stand against dating violence.
About Women Speaking Out
Women Speaking Out is a Hawaiʻi-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 26-2389151) focused on preventing dating and domestic violence through education, peer training, mentorship, and community events. The organization delivers school- and community-based programs — including conferences, workshops, and self-defense training — aimed at building self-esteem, promoting healthy relationships, and teaching intervention techniques.
In the last 2–3 years WSO has expanded programming for at-risk girls with a new mentorship track and an inaugural Girls Court retreat, run community self-defense events (including a widely reported 2023 class), and increased fundraising and grant support to scale its youth-focused prevention work. WSO reports raising over $100,000 for student-focused programming and states it has impacted multiple thousands of women and girls through its initiatives.
