About Nourish Colorado

Nourish Colorado is a statewide 501(c)(3) based in Denver that advances food security, local food economies, and equitable access to fresh, nutritious foods through programs, policy advocacy, and partnerships. The organization operates and manages statewide incentive and education programs—including Double Up Food Bucks Colorado, Cooking Matters (SNAP‑Ed), and the Colorado Nutrition Incentive Program—while working with state agencies, community partners, and producers to strengthen local food systems. In the last several years Nourish Colorado has focused on scaling nutrition incentive reach, expanding produce distribution to WIC participants and older adults, and advancing state policy (Healthy Food Incentive efforts) to make healthy food more affordable and widely available across urban and rural communities.

Notable achievements

SNAP‑Ed reach (2024)

In 2024 Nourish Colorado’s SNAP‑Ed nutrition education work reached nearly 400,000 Coloradans across 56 of Colorado’s 64 counties, delivering Cooking Matters curricula and related food‑skills programming.

Scaled Double Up Food Bucks

Double Up Food Bucks Colorado expanded statewide—serving dozens of markets and retail partners (more than 100 vendor sites across multiple counties) and surpassing $1 million in incentives to increase purchasing power for SNAP participants while directing federal benefit dollars into local farms and markets.

Expanded produce distribution for WIC & older adults

Through the Colorado Nutrition Incentive Program (CNIP) and related initiatives Nourish purchased and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars of Colorado‑grown produce for WIC participants and older adults, prioritizing rural and isolated communities.
