About Cure CMD

Cure CMD was founded in 2008 by parents of children with congenital muscular dystrophy and focuses on accelerating research, improving clinical care, and connecting families, clinicians, and researchers worldwide. The organization operates patient-facing programs and research infrastructure designed to make the CMD community clinical-trial ready.

Key organizational assets include the Congenital Muscle Disease International Registry (CMDIR), published consensus care and subtype-specific care guides (including pulmonary and cardiac guides), a mobile app and educational series for families and clinicians, and a research grant portfolio that has exceeded $4 million in cumulative funding. Recent activities (2023–2025) include relaunch of the CMDIR, funding multiple multi-year research projects (2022–2025), and winning a 2024 advocacy collaboration grant to expand policy and advocacy work.
