About PACIFIC RIM CONSERVATION INC

Pacific Rim Conservation (PRC) is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) conservation organization founded to restore biodiversity and rebuild native bird populations across the Hawaiian Islands and the central Pacific. The organization combines applied scientific research with hands-on habitat restoration, predator control, and species translocation to re-establish secure populations and inform conservation practice. In the last several years PRC has continued field programs (including seabird monitoring and translocations, native forest restoration, and ʻElepaio research) and published annual reports documenting measurable outcomes. PRC works in partnership with government agencies, other conservation NGOs, academic researchers, and philanthropic funders to scale proven interventions and monitor ecological results.

Notable achievements

Predator-exclusion fencing

Installed 7.5 miles of predator-exclusion fencing to protect approximately 386 acres of native habitat, creating secure conservation 'islands' for native birds.

Seabird colony re-establishment

Translocated and established new colonies by moving over 750 seabirds of multiple species to restored sites, contributing to population recovery and new breeding success.

Scientific output and applied research

Produced more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and technical reports that guide on-the-ground management and inform broader Pacific avian conservation strategies.
