About CREATING RESTORATIVE OPPORTUNITIES AND PROGRAMS (CROP)

CROP is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides intensive, year-long reentry services and workforce training designed and led by people with lived experience of incarceration.

Its signature Ready 4 Life program combines residential supportive housing (Bay Area campus) or hybrid training (Los Angeles), stipends, case management and market-driven career training; CROP also runs in-prison leadership curricula and builds employer pipelines and data tools to support long-term reintegration.

Since 2022 CROP has scaled rapidly — securing major state funding to pilot a holistic reentry model, launching the Ready 4 Life campus and cohorts in 2023, and expanding in-prison and post-release services through 2024–2025 with measurable placement and recidivism outcomes reported by the organization.

Notable achievements

Major state award to pilot holistic reentry

In 2022 CROP secured a multi‑million dollar state investment to fund an integrated reentry pilot combining housing, case management and workforce training.

Launch of Ready 4 Life Career Campus

Opened a flagship West Oakland career campus and launched the Ready 4 Life cohorts in 2023, hosting ribbon-cutting events and initial fellow cohorts across the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

Early reported outcomes and scale

Across 2023–2024 CROP completed multiple cohorts, reported serving over one hundred participants in 2024, and publicly reported strong early outcomes for graduated fellows as the program scaled into 2025.
