About Blackhouse Foundation
The Blackhouse Foundation (commonly branded The Blackhouse) is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has operated since the late 2000s to create professional pathways and convening spaces for Black filmmakers, producers, and executives. It is known for on-site programming at major festivals (notably Sundance and Tribeca), year-long fellowships, and producer development initiatives that connect creators to industry partners and decision-makers.
The organization runs fellowship and producer-development programs, curates festival activations, and partners with studios and platforms to place fellows in hands-on producing opportunities and mentorship. In recent years The Blackhouse has expanded strategic partnerships with major entertainment companies to create targeted fellowships that place mid-career and emerging Black producers into production ecosystems.
