About THE QUEER BIG APPLE CORPS, INC.

Founded in 1979, The Queer Big Apple Corps (formerly the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps) is a long-standing New York City community music organization that fields both symphonic and marching ensembles. The organization describes itself as a home for LGBTQ+ and allied musicians and color guard members, and it presents concerts, marching-band appearances, and community performances across the region.

The Corps regularly performs in concerts at prominent NYC venues and in parade and civic events; its programming spans symphonic concerts, marching-band appearances, educational outreach, and community engagement. Historically the organization has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and has participated in nationally visible events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut

Made a historic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance (virtual debut Nov 26, 2020) and subsequently participated in later parade programming, cited by the organization and media as the first LGBTQIA+ identified marching band to appear in the Parade.

Carnegie Hall debut
