About CRISTO REY WORK STUDY PROGRAM

Cristo Rey Work Study Program, Inc. is the legally incorporated work-study subsidiary that employs students of Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston and places them with corporate and community partners across the Houston area. The program functions as a temporary employment agency: partner companies pay a fee-for-service and the Work Study Program handles payroll, transportation, compliance, and professional training so students gain supervised, entry-level workplace experience without missing class.

The program operates year-round during the academic calendar and uses a four-person job-sharing model so every student participates; its curriculum includes pre-employment summer training and ongoing workplace coaching. Recent program reporting highlights measurable student outcomes (hours of work experience, supervisor performance ratings, and student-reported value of the experience) and emphasizes serving students who could not otherwise afford private college-preparatory education.

Notable achievements

100% student employment through Corporate Work-Study

Extensive real-world experience (750+ hours)

Students complete well over 700 hours of professional work experience by graduation, combining workplace training with academic programs to prepare students for college and careers.

Strong workplace performance and student impact

Workplace outcomes show high supervisor satisfaction and student engagement—most students meet or exceed workplace expectations and a large majority of seniors report the program as a meaningful part of their education.
