About TEXAS CATTLE DOG RESCUE INC

Texas Cattle Dog Rescue, Inc. (TCDR) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization based in Fort Worth, Texas, focused exclusively on rescuing Australian Cattle Dogs (heelers) from city and county shelters across Texas. TCDR operates a foster-based model—there is no central kennel—and ensures each rescued dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given necessary veterinary care prior to adoption.

Founded in 2009, the organization reports more than 1,500 heelers helped since inception and typically rescues over 100 dogs per year; it also runs targeted programs such as a spay/neuter initiative (Heeler Fix) and a donation fund for senior heelers. TCDR engages in public education about the breed, screens adopters carefully, and maintains active adoptable-dog listings on adoption platforms to place dogs into permanent homes.

In the last 2–3 years the rescue has remained active: maintaining current adoptable listings, continuing foster placements, operating spay/neuter and senior-heeler support efforts, producing donor-facing fundraising items (e.g., organization calendars), and partnering with local shelters and animal-control programs to pull at-risk heelers for medical care and rehoming.
