EAST ROCKAWAY FIRE DEPARTMENT

The East Rockaway Fire Department is a volunteer, donor-facing 501(c)(3) organization organized in 1893 that provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, marine and dive rescue, technical rescue, and related public-safety programs to the Village of East Rockaway, Bay Park, and Angel Sea. The department is organized across five stations with specialized units including a Rescue Squad, Floodlight & Heavy Rescue Squad, Marine Unit, Dive Team, and Surface Water Rescue Team.

In recent years the department has continued active operational and community service: its Rescue Squad operates two advanced life-support ambulances participating in the Nassau County 911 system (responding to 500+ calls per year), the dive/marine teams conduct underwater search and water-rescue operations, and the department deployed Engine 404 on mutual aid to Orange County wildfires on November 15, 2024. The organization files annual Form 990s; its publicly reported finances show revenues in the low six figures and total assets in the mid-six-figure range in filings for fiscal years ending December 2023 and December 2024.
