ADVOCATES FOR COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION
Act uses the legal system and the hope of the gospel to empower inner-city residents to fight crime and restore safety in their neighborhoods.
About ADVOCATES FOR COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION
Advocates for Community Transformation (Act) is a Dallas-based, faith-rooted legal advocacy organization founded in 2009 that equips underserved, inner-city residents to use civil legal tools and community organizing to stop crime and blight on their streets. Act pairs residents with pro bono attorneys, builds neighborhood leadership, and pursues civil remedies that range from negotiated agreements to court-ordered fixes so that safety becomes sustainable. In recent years Act has continued to scale its model and public presence: in 2023 Act documented collective outcomes including more than 200 crime properties addressed since founding and provided testimony to the Texas Legislature (March 13, 2023) about its work. Also in May 2023 Act received a Texas Bar Foundation grant to expand casework capacity into Fort Worth and has maintained audited/financial disclosures for fiscal years ending December 31, 2021 and December 31, 2022, reflecting continued operations and program growth.
