Pets for Patriots is a national nonprofit that connects veterans (active, reserve, guard, retired and veteran) with companion shelter animals, focusing on older, special-needs, large and long-stay pets to promote two-life rescues.
The organization reduces adoption barriers with a suite of benefits — a 'welcome home' gift card, access to discounted and telehealth veterinary care, pre- and post-adoption support, and hardship assistance — and works with a network of shelters and veterinary partners across the United States.

In 2024 the program facilitated 430 veteran-pet adoptions (321 dogs and 109 cats), representing double-digit growth and a year-over-year increase of more than 17% over 2023.

Built an extensive national network serving dozens of states, with hundreds of shelter partners and hundreds of veterinary partners (including telehealth and walk-in clinic affiliations) to support adoptions for life.
Hardship program outcomes
In recent reporting, the hardship program assisted 21 veterans with nearly $8,500 in support to prevent the surrender of their pets.
