Krause Family Foundation: ‘Alana Ke Aloha is a public 501(c)(3) organization based in Kaneohe, Hawai‘i that supports literacy, education, workforce readiness, arts, and community wellness projects in Hawai‘i (including Molokai) and Southern California. The foundation partners with local organizations, councils, and community programs to deliver literacy services, creative labs, sustainable agriculture training, and cultural storytelling initiatives. Notable achievements
Hoʻohui Maikaʻi Anthology (Molokai)
Supported a Hawaii Council for the Humanities-funded writing project that produced the anthology Hoʻohui Maikaʻi, resulting in eight Molokai women authors being published and documented community food/cultural stories (project activity in 2023).
AARP Community Challenge Grantee
Selected for the AARP Community Challenge (2022) to fund local community improvement and wellness programming, demonstrating capacity to deliver place-based projects for older adults and multigenerational communities.
Ongoing Literacy & Skills Programs
Operates family literacy services, education/tutoring activities, and workforce-skills support in partnership with community organizations and universities; these programs have been implemented across Hawai‘i communities and in collaborative projects through at least 2023.
